Information for School Counselors
The Wesleyan Admission Deans appreciate the significant role school counselors play in students’ college search and acknowledge the unending and underappreciated hours you put in on their behalf. We welcome any opportunity to work with you to provide greater insight into the college application and admission process. We invite a dialogue with each of you, enjoy the opportunity to connect “across the desk,” and appreciate the conversations.
Bridging the Gap
Wesleyan has long been a leader in providing access to underrepresented students and diversifying our student body. We have been a committed QuestBridge Partner College since 2008 and graduated the first class of Quest Scholars in 2012. We typically enroll between 30 to 40 Quest Scholars each year, including no fewer than 10 scholars through the College Match—all of whom have their full demonstrated need met through comprehensive, need-based financial aid. Quest scholars at Wesleyan come from small, rural towns across the country as well as major urban centers.
QuestBridge Scholars at Wesleyan have access to a large network of mentors, and well over 100 peers on campus from across the country to share in their journey and support the pursuit of their goals. Whether enrolled through the College Match or through an Early or Regular Decision process, our QuestBridge scholars have helped to shape our academics, student life, extracurriculars, and innovative projects on campus, in the community, and around the world.
Sharing Wesleyan Nationwide
For students at Title I and Title I-eligible high schools who are unable to learn at Wesleyan in person, The Wesleyan High School Partnership Program empowers them to experience our community nationwide. Provided in collaboration the National Education Opportunity Network (NEON), this initiative gives students unique access to college-level courses designed by Wesleyan faculty and delivered in the high school classrooms students visit every day. Following guidance from their teachers and building connections with our undergraduate Teaching Fellows, students will complete assignments and engage in in-depth discussions on subjects ranging from screenwriting and programming to planetary science and psychology. Successful students emerge from the program with Wesleyan college credits, which they can use if they choose to apply to Wesleyan’s undergraduate programs.
